Horsepower Fantasy Racing: Picks for the Pocono 400

To distinguish one’s self from everyone else, it is what makes everyone unique.  Unless it relates to identical twins, there’s no two people alike in the world.

NASCAR has 36 races that take place at over 20 different tracks, none of which is similar to the other.

Even the tracks try to distinguish themselves from one another.  Banking, length of races, distance around; each make the tracks on the circuit different challenges each week.

Sunday’s action takes place at a track that combines the aspect of three’s.  Three distinct straightaways, none of which are the same length.  Three distinct corners, all banked differently, and designed based on much different race tracks.  What about the fourth turn?

How about…there’s not one.

The mountains of Long Pond, Pennsylvania, welcome NASCAR this week, and it means that in order to win, one must conquer three different handling characteristics over the course of nearly three hours.  But, no one worries about the number three at this place, unless it’s the No. 3 car.  Instead, it’s the number one…as in the first one to the finish line.

Who will it be?  Let’s see who the League wants to win the Pocono 400:

Misan Akuya:  Kyle Busch

No reason given.

Rob Blount:  Denny Hamlin

No reason given.

Billy Fellin:  Dale Earnhardt Jr.

He’s gotta win eventually, right?

Dalton Hastings:  Kurt Busch

No reason given.

Ashley Hobbs:  Kyle Larson

No reason given.

Ashley Hull:  Denny Hamlin

No reason given.  AUTHOR NOTE:  Deepest sympathies and prayers out to Ashley and her family as her mom goes in for possible cancer treatment.  Fight on!

Ashley McCubbin:  Martin Truex Jr.

No reason given.

Klarissa Mitchell:  Brad Keselowski

No reason given.

Dustin Parks:  Denny Hamlin

It’s hard to believe we’re over halfway to the playoffs, and JGR has not been to victory lane yet.  I’m going the Toyota route and giving my hope to the FedEx team this round.

Patti Rodisch:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.

Sal Sigala Jr:  Brad Keselowski

No reason given.

Rob Tiongson:  Chase Elliott

If there was one driver who nearly tricked this triangular conundrum of Pocono last year, it was Chase.  I look for most of the same for the sophomore racer as he finally scores his first career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win.

Penny Whitecotton:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.
