Horsepower Fantasy Racing: Picks for the GoBowling.com 400

On Monday, when everything finally settled down after the calamity that was simply the newest chapter in restrictor plate racing, teams already began looking ahead.  The next time those plates and that aero package would be used would come after a two-month wait.

Instead, the focus came back to the bread and butter tracks that the sport has seemingly at every corner of the country.

The new aerodynamic package for the cars this season was catered to this size of race track, hoping to make it a more exciting and competitive event every time NASCAR came to such a facility.  Thus far, it has worked, but is always evolving.  The newest test comes at a track that when it was last visited, it began the rivalry that defined the Chase.  The Great Plains welcome the sport back to the Kansas Speedway, and there’s no twister in sight.

After two weeks of not achieving a victory, these writers are wanting to get back to celebrating a win.  Plus, after a majority of the field wound up getting a single point because of an unexpected accident, the field is bunched up even closer.

Let’s look at who they decided will see the checkered flag first on Saturday night in the Go Bowling 400:

Misan Akuya:  Martin Truex Jr.

It seems like there have been three races here at Kansas that Martin Truex Jr has had a great shot at winning but could just not close the deal.  That’s been his whole season.  Look for that to change.

Rob Blount:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.

Mary Jo Buchanan:  Joey Logano

The great Wizard of Oz.

Stephen Conley:  Jimmie Johnson

No reason given.

Billy Fellin:  Joey Logano

Logano has won twice at Kansas, both times in the fall. Granted, those two are really important Chase wins. But still.

Ashley Hobbs:  Jimmie Johnson

No reason given.

Ashley Hull:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.

Kara Martin:  Brad Keselowski

No reason given.

Ashley McCubbin:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.

Klarissa Mitchell:  Denny Hamlin

No reason given.

Dustin Parks:  Martin Truex Jr.

Let’s face it, this place owes him at least two wins.  This team is basically the fifth JGR team, just based in a completely different state, and only has one car to worry about.  It’s time that Truex closes the deal in Kansas, he needs to.

Patti Rodisch:  Kevin Harvick

No reason given.

Sal Sigala Jr:  Kyle Busch

No reason given.

Rob Tiongson:  Joey Logano

Eventually, Joey Logano will race his way into Victory Lane.  Just make sure that Matt Kenseth isn’t too far behind him on the track.
